Benzaldehyde Production in India
The cost of materials for benzaldehyde production have increased by more than 10% in India during September, though recent reports indicate pricing may have reached its peak.
Benzaldehyde experienced an acute shortage in recent months due to high demand and prevalent usage in various agricultural industries throughout India. The agricultural season is now nearing its end, alongside the end of the monsoon season, and many harvests are now in their final stages. Manufacturers of benzaldehyde are still supplying the majority of their production to the agricultural sector, though supply is steadily opening up to other sectors as well.
During India’s peak season, every benzaldehyde manufacturer allocates the bulk of their supply to the production of herbicides and fungicides. This allocation becomes looser as the season continues and manufactures slowly introduce new supply for other derivatives. As the season ends, prices for benzaldehyde should begin to loosen too.
However, until a significant quantity of benzaldehyde returns to the global aromatic chemicals market, the price of benzaldehyde and its derivatives are expected to remain higher than average. Costs are projected to increase until the acute shortage has ended.
