Angelica Root Oil

Angelica archangelica

Description of Angelica Root Oil

Angelica Root Oil is steam-distilled from the dried roots of the Angelica archangelica plant, which grows abundantly throughout the Europe and the Mediterranean. The color and viscosity of this material can vary depending on the age of the roots at time of distillation, though the oil is generally a pale or colorless liquid. The aroma of Angelica Root Oil is light, earthy, and peppery, with a rich and herbaceous dry down that is immensely appealing. Sometimes compared to “animal musk,” the odor of the essential oil is uniquely tenacious and has excellent diffusive properties. Angelica Root Oil is exceptionally strong and potent when used in fragrance – the use of this material is often considered an art in and of itself amongst perfumers. It is often paired with other herbaceous materials such as patchouli, opoponax, and clary sage.
