Sustainability at Berjé

Responsible sourcing across essential oils and aroma ingredients, from origin to customer

Sustainability at Berjé is about responsible sourcing, environmental stewardship, and ethical supply chain practices for essential oils and aroma ingredients. Many of our products come directly from agricultural and botanical systems and this means that long-term sustainability is closely linked to product quality, supply continuity and customer confidence.

Our sustainability program focuses on environmental impact, responsible procurement, human rights and labor standards, alongside ethical business conduct across our global operations and origin network.

Environmental Impact & Emissions Management

Environmental Impact & Emissions Management

We maintain a structured greenhouse gas accounting program across our operations, measuring Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions and expanding Scope 3 supply chain emissions coverage. This allows us to track progress over time and identify where operational improvements can be made.

We’re developing product carbon footprint models for priority materials and working towards science-based emissions reduction targets as our full greenhouse gas inventory is completed.

In addition, we’re rolling out energy and process efficiency upgrades across our facilities and origin sites.

Renewable Energy & Site Efficiency

Renewable Energy & Site Efficiency

Renewable energy and site efficiency investments form part of our environmental improvement strategy. Solar installations at our Carteret headquarters supply a significant share of our electricity used on site.

Other programs on site include steam and process efficiency upgrades, resource-use reduction, and infrastructure improvements that lower overall energy demand.

Responsible Sourcing & Sustainable Agriculture

Programs include biological pest control expansion, reduced reliance on high-residue chemicals, and farmer training in safe agrochemical use and field management practices, Environmental improvements at processing sites include water recovery and reuse systems and process efficiency upgrades.

Traceability & Supply Chain Due Diligence
