Melissa Oil, French Type
Description of Melissa Oil, French Type
Steam-distilled from the fragrant leaves of the Melissa officinalis herb, Melissa Oil French is a product native to central and southern Europe. Unlike other melissa varieties, this oil has a cleaner “citral” top note, with a lemony nuance not found in the Bulgarian product. This makes French melissa oil particularly well-suited for citrus and herbaceous fragrances, especially those that incorporate notes of lemon herb or lemon verbena. The pleasant aroma of melissa oil has been used in perfumery for decades, most notably by the 1930s French perfume known as “Heart’s Delight.”
