The Logistics and Transportation Journals continue to lament the state of the American Trucking Industry. One journal has published a report from the American Trucking Association stating that turnover in the last quarter of 2015 for drivers of the large truckloads fleet was 102%. This rising turnover rate will cause fleets to compete for safe drivers, meaning an increase in wages and benefits.A separate journal noted that the American Transportation Research Institute has published data indicating that traffic congestion on highways added $49.6 billion to trucking industry costs during 2014. Upon completion of the data, the numbers for 2015 are expected to be higher.Freight rates should reflect these increased costs.
