Description of Balsam Copaiba

Balsam Copaiba is derived from the Copaifera officinalis tree, which is endemic to South America, though the botanical has since been introduced to a wide range of tropical growing regions including India, Sri Lanka, and the Dominican Republic. The material is collected in a similar manner to maple syrup – trees are tapped by local harvesters to release their resin, which is then filtered over multiple days to remove any impurities. The aroma of Balsam Copaiba is soft and sweet, with a woody and peppery top note that eventually transitions into a mild and spicy dry down. It is often added to masculine fragrances and cosmetics such as cologne, aftershave, and body lotion.
