Palo Santo Oil
Description of Palo Santo Oil
Palo Santo Oil is steam-distilled from the wood and twigs of the Bursera graveolens tree, which is endemic to the tropical dry forests of South America. The name “palo santo” means “holy stick,” and the material is closely associated with a wide range of Andean cultures and traditions. Even today, palo santo wood is burned by traditional Peruvian shamans to “cleanse misfortunes” and “purge evil spirits.” Berjé’s Palo Santo Oil is only sourced from deceased trees that have fallen from natural causes, ensuring the harvest and extraction process remains highly sustainable. In fragrance, Palo Santo Oil imparts an exceptionally fruity and woody aroma containing notes of citrus, mint, earth, and spice. The oil’s high limonene content also makes it a natural insect repellent, which can be very useful for outdoor-focused products.
