Geraniol is a monoterpenoid alcohol that can be found within the essential oils of many different botanicals. One of the most heavily-used ingredients across the entire fragrance industry, this material has a mild and sweet-floral aroma, often compared to the scent of rose. As such, geraniol is a staple of countless perfumes from around the world, finding use in everything from fine fragrance to cost-effective household cleaning products. Geraniol is also a common flavor ingredient, albeit in much smaller doses due to its bitterness at high concentrations.
